I have been fascinated by nature - trees, in particular - ever since I was a kid. The changing of leaves, the sheer magnitude of their size, the concentric rings inside them that tell their stories. And then there's the eco-system angle – the fact that a single tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of CO2 in a single year, while producing enough oxygen to support two human beings. Amazing. But it was only lately that I realized that trees can speak… well… sorta. Here are a bunch of images I've compiled of trees trying to communicate with us. Check them out, and let me know what you think.

1. “Through here, please.”

2. “I wish I was a sheep.”

3. “Peace.”

4. “Swan Lake, anyone?”

5. “Praise the Lord.”

6. “One sec — tied up at the moment.”

7. “Which way is up?”

8. “Stability is everything.”

9. “Almost to the top!”

10. “Wanna fight?”

11. “This way… if you dare.”

12. “Don't mind us. Just practicing for the circus.”

13. “Love.”

14. “Statue of Liber-tree. Ha-ha. Get it?”

15. “Thumbs up!”

16. “Boo!”

17. “I have a small… you know.”

And so, if trees can speak, then why in the world are we are killing 100 million of them each year for the sake of postal junk mail? 100 million. Seriously.

Maybe they're just not saying the right things…
